Thor Heyerdahl's Urn
After Thor Heyerdahl's death in 2002, his urn was placed in a private burial place in the hill above his Italian paradise, Colla Micheri. The family wanted a permanent public memorial for the famous Norwegian scientist, writer and explorer. The natural choice was Larvik, the town by the Oslo Fjord, where he grew up.Thor Heyerdahl's urn came home in the summer of 2024 to his hometown of Larvik, and the church where he was baptized. On Friday 21 June 2024, Heyerdahl was given his final resting place outside Larvik Church. At the grave site stands a beautiful monument to his memory. Read more on NRK
