The Exhibition
Thor Heyerdahl (1914–2002) won world fame when he crossed the Pacific in 1947 with the balsa raft Kon-Tiki. Spectacular sailings followed with the reed boats Ra and Tigris.
At the Kon-Tiki Museum you can see original vessels and updated exhibitions about Thor Heyerdahl's expeditions, which include Kon-Tiki, Ra, Tigris, Easter Island, Fatu-Hiva, Tùcume, Galapagos, a 30 meter long cave walk, underwater exhibition with a ten meter long whale shark, Thor Heyerdahl's library, Personen Thor Heyerdahl and Tiki pop culture.
New playground for children
The children's playground for the youngest children. Where the children can frolic, while being activated and stimulated. Slide down from the raft or check navigation. The child can also sit in the cabin and pretend they are on the journey
You will find the activity corner after the caves downstairs, after you have passed the large and scary whale shark
Children's Day, Winter Break
On the first Saturday of the the winter holidays, young and old are invited to Children's Day at the Kon-Tiki museum:
• Puzzle race - everyone gets a prize
• Workshop - make your own Kon-Tiki raft
• Archeologist's Corner - try on a real shark fin
• Child-friendly tour at 11.00 and 13.00
• Free for children under 6 years of age.
• Child ticket NOK NOK 50 (6-17 years)
• Surprise for the children.
The museum is open at 10.00-17.00 - come when it suits you.

Saturday, June 8th, the Kon-Tiki Museum and Peru’s Embassy in Oslo invite you to see a temporary photo exhibition called The Great Inca Trail. Peru: Integration and Diversity.
Experience the breathtaking landscape and ancient cultural sites along the road that for more than 500 years have connected diverse Andean communities together.
